Welcome! My name is Daniel Boterf. I am a grad student at Dallas Baptist University, and the student worship leader at Stonegate Church in Midlothian, Texas. I love to lead worship, write songs, play guitar, talk theology, go on adventures, travel, sometimes read, and eat good hamburgers.
I was born in Starkville, MS, and I am one of six kids. I was a backwoods redneck type of kid. Barefoot, I would run down the gravel driveway, hoping that my feet would not get tore up. I loved hunting, fishing, and swimming in the muddy, snake infested creeks. When I turned 14, my family and I moved to Texas after some unfortunate circumstances. I had no friends. I tried everything to fit into the school I was going to (Alvarado High School). I had been playing football since sixth grade, so I gave that a try for a few years into high school, but then quit soon after I gave my life to Christ.
I was 15 when I got saved. I soon joined the “youth worship band”, and as a new Christian, I have to admit, I felt like a rock-star. What started as playing drums, became singing, and soon after, became leading the whole band. Two years later, God called me to be a worship leader/pastor. Now, I am at Dallas Baptist University working towards a Masters degree while working for the Police department. God is gracious and has given me several opportunities to lead worship at various venues, youth groups, churches, and even in chapel on campus.
I am a member of Stonegate Church in Midlothian, TX, and serve on the worship team under great worship leaders such as: Kevin Jones and Jimmy Needham.
